Vladimir Putin, responding to Trump's remarks, stated that "in the last conversation, all the details of the meeting, including the location, were proposed by the American side." He added that he is open to the meeting, but good preparation is necessary: "Now, it seems, the President of the United States has decided either to cancel or postpone this meeting. But I believe that dialogue is preferable to any confrontation or disputes, especially war," Putin noted.

Additionally, during a conversation with journalists, Putin also commented on the new sanctions imposed by the United States and Europe against Russia. According to him, these restrictions "will not have a significant impact on the economic state of the country." He characterized the imposed sanctions as an attempt to pressure Russia, adding: "No self-respecting country makes decisions under pressure."

Putin also commented on recent statements by Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the transfer of long-range weapons to Ukraine, calling it a step towards escalating the conflict. "If such weapons are used to attack Russian territory, the response will be very serious, to say the least," he warned.

On October 23, Donald Trump announced the cancellation of the meeting with Putin that was scheduled in Budapest. "I thought it was wrong. I felt that we would not achieve the results we should have. Therefore, I canceled the meeting. But we will hold it in the future," Trump shared. He also noted that his conversations with Putin have always been "good," but "ultimately they lead nowhere."
