Kirill Dmitriev, who holds the position of special representative of the President of Russia, noted on CNN that there may be increasing diplomatic dynamics between Russia, the USA, and Ukraine that could lead to the end of the war, but for this, recognition of the existing front line is necessary. This was reported by Deutsche Welle.

According to him, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has "taken a significant step" by acknowledging the reality of the front line and abandoning the demand for the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from the occupied territories.

Dmitriev expressed confidence that "Russia, the USA, and Ukraine are indeed quite close to a diplomatic solution." He added that Zelensky has already realized the importance of the front line and, in his opinion, the parties are close enough to reach an agreement.

Nevertheless, the Kremlin representative emphasized the need for "security guarantees" and consideration of Moscow's positions, which, he claims, justify the continuation of the conflict.

In response to questions about U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to postpone the summit with Vladimir Putin, Dmitriev assured that the meeting will still take place later, as "it is always better to engage in dialogue with Russia than not to engage at all." Earlier, Trump also mentioned that the summit would take place "in the future."

Moscow, for its part, rejects ideas for an immediate ceasefire. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized that such a measure contradicts "the agreements reached in Alaska," adding that a ceasefire under current conditions would mean keeping a significant part of Ukraine under the control of the authorities in Kyiv, whom the Kremlin continues to call a "Nazi regime."
