The meeting of Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev with the K-water delegation from South Korea, which included Vice President Han Sung-yeon, took place recently. This was reported by the city administration.
During the meeting, key aspects of the joint project aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving urban ecology were discussed.
The mayor emphasized that Bishkek is actively developing its infrastructure and increasing its budget; however, there are still many tasks that require a comprehensive approach. He expressed hope that joint initiatives and the implementation of specific projects would help apply successful practices from Korea in the capital.
As a result of the negotiations, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the city hall and the Korean corporation, which envisions cooperation in the renovation of Bishkek and the reduction of carbon emissions.
The document includes measures to reduce the carbon footprint, such as transitioning to environmentally friendly fuel sources, installing systems for drinking water supply, extracting biogas from wastewater treatment facilities, and implementing technologies for detecting and preventing gas leaks.
