
On November 6, a meeting took place in Bishkek between the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Asein Isaev, and the head of the delegation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Seval Guzelkilinch.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, the discussion focused on key areas of bilateral cooperation, as well as project activities carried out by the IFRC in the country.
The IFRC presented its strategy for 2026-2027, which emphasizes strengthening the capacity of national Red Cross societies, enhancing preparedness for emergencies, and developing medical programs, including vaccination and social support for vulnerable groups of the population.
Special attention was given to the National Society of Red Crescent of Kyrgyzstan, which will celebrate its centenary in 2026.
During the meeting, health issues were also discussed, including the prevention and control of infectious diseases, vaccination against measles and other diseases in various regions of the country. The parties noted the importance of enhancing preparedness for emergencies and further developing medical programs aimed at supporting vulnerable categories of citizens, such as women, children, and the elderly.
In addition, an agreement was reached to continue joint work on the possible accession of Kyrgyzstan to the Global Compact for the Protection of People in Emergencies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to strengthen cooperation and emphasized the significance of humanitarian initiatives in the field of public health, disaster response, and social protection of the population, as noted in the statement.
