The meeting of the delegation from China, led by the Deputy Chairman of the People's Political Consultative Conference of Gansu Province, He Weiping, took place with the participation of the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Bakyt Torobaev.
According to sources from the Cabinet of Ministers, the main focus of the meeting was on issues of agricultural cooperation between the two countries. The possibilities for collaboration in the production of seeds for vegetables, fruits, and medicinal plants were discussed, considering that Gansu accounts for 70% of the total seed production in China and is renowned for its R&D.
Among the issues discussed was also the problem of combating the shrub of the Altai goldenrod in the Suusamyr Valley. Participants of the meeting considered measures to eliminate these shrubs, which threaten pastures, as well as the possibility of processing them for the production of feed and fertilizers through the establishment of a joint venture.
In addition, the parties discussed the supply of specialized Chinese equipment for potato farming in Kyrgyzstan, the exchange of experience, and the training of qualified specialists in this field. In the near future, the relevant state authorities of both countries will begin active actions in this direction.
The negotiations emphasized that successful cooperation in the specified areas could contribute to increasing trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and China. According to statistics, in 2024, the total trade volume is expected to reach 23 billion dollars, and in the first nine months of the current year, it has already amounted to 22 billion dollars. At the same time, the export of agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan has increased by two percent.
