According to information provided by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, the Kyrgyz Republic has been able to fully meet its domestic needs for six out of nine key food products.

According to the agency's data, in the first nine months of 2025, the country fully provided itself with potatoes, milk, meat, vegetables, eggs, and sugar. At the same time, baked goods (grains), vegetable oil, as well as fruits and berries are partially imported.
Since 2024, Kyrgyzstan has completely transitioned to its own sugar production, which was previously mostly imported.
In the field of meat production, the republic has achieved full self-sufficiency in beef and lamb; however, work on meeting the demand for poultry meat continues.

Previously, local farmers exported meat products to neighboring countries such as Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, where prices were significantly higher. However, to stabilize prices in the domestic market, the government decided to ban meat exports and introduced price controls.

Additionally, due to the increase in chicken egg production, an import ban has been imposed. Currently, Kyrgyzstan not only fully meets its domestic needs but also exports products, having sent 3.3 million eggs abroad from August last year to January 2025.

The ministry emphasized that there is no food shortage in the country, and efforts to strengthen food security are ongoing.
