
High-ranking representatives of the water authorities of Central Asia attended the meeting, including the Chairman of the State Committee for Water Management of Turkmenistan, Durdy Gendzhiev; the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov; the Minister of Water Management of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Hamraev; and the First Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, Jamshid Shodi Shoimzod. An advisor from the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Turkmenistan, Emil Shadykhanov, was also invited as an observer.
During the meeting, the results of the 2025 growing season were discussed, and the work schedule for the Naryn-Syrdarya cascade of reservoirs for the inter-vegetation period of 2025-2026 was approved. According to this schedule, the projected water inflow to the Shardara Reservoir was agreed upon.
Participants also reported on the progress of tasks set at the summits of the heads of state – founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea. The next meeting, the 92nd session of the ICWC, is scheduled for next year in Tajikistan.
The Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, noted that the past irrigation period was challenging due to climatic conditions; however, the cooperation of all ICWC participants contributed to the successful completion of the growing season. He emphasized the importance of such meetings for laying the foundation for further cooperation and fair distribution of transboundary water resources, taking into account the interests of all parties.
