Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan strengthen cooperation in the field of water resources

In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Manas, the seventh meeting of the Joint Water Management Commission between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan took place, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.

The main goal of this meeting was to strengthen cooperation in the rational use of water resources and ensure water and energy security in the context of climate change.

The Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Bakyt Torobaev, noted that the relations between the countries have reached the level of strategic partnership.

The Kyrgyz side proposed several initiatives, including the implementation of drip and automated irrigation, the creation of a "Green Belt of Friendship" along the border, and the development of cooperation in the water and energy sector.

Participants of the meeting also emphasized the importance of joint projects, such as the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1 and the establishment of the "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" railway, which contribute to the sustainable development of the entire region.
