EABR Allocates $15 Million for Road Expansion and Bridge Construction in Osh

As part of the initiative to improve the road infrastructure of the city of Osh, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, together with the Ministry of Finance and the city administration, has launched a new project. This was announced by Beknazar Bazaraliev, Deputy Minister of Transport, during a meeting of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, and Security of the Jogorku Kenesh.

According to him, an agreement has been reached with the Eurasian Development Bank for the provision of a loan and a grant.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the project plans to reconstruct and expand sections of Babaraimov and Shamshat streets, with a total length of 3.2 kilometers, as well as the construction of two overpass bridges. The total cost of the planned works will amount to $19.3 million.

Of this amount, $15.39 million will be allocated as a loan and grant from the EDB, while $3.9 million will be co-financed by the Kyrgyz Republic from the national budget.

The loan is provided for a period of 15 years at an interest rate of 1.2% per annum, with a grace period of five years. The implementation of the project is expected to take place from 2026 to 2028.

Parliamentarians supported the draft agreement following the discussion.
