The Minister of Finance Almaz Baketaev and Matteo Patrone, Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, signed a memorandum of understanding. This document will serve as the basis for preparing a framework agreement aimed at supporting priority projects in areas such as municipal infrastructure, irrigation, and transportation. The total amount of investments under the agreement is up to 400 million euros, according to information from the ministry's press service.

This initiative is aimed at creating sustainable infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan and optimizing investments from the EBRD.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the bank has already provided the second tranche of financing amounting to up to 3.3 million euros, which includes a grant of 1.6 million euros. These funds will be directed towards the modernization of water supply in the city of Bazar-Korgon, ensuring reliable access to clean water and improved sanitation conditions for more than 60,000 residents.

This is already the seventh infrastructure project supported by the EBRD in Kyrgyzstan in 2025.
