In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, a meeting was held dedicated to the project "Promoting Sustainable Development in Mountain Regions," which aims to support small producers and craft cooperatives. As part of the initiative, funded by an Italian grant, a business incubator and accelerator will be established to provide technical assistance and facilitate collaboration with designers.
At the meeting, which was attended by the Special Representative of the President, Dinara Kemelova, representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Mountain Partnership Secretariat were also present. Kemelova emphasized the importance of fair selection of project participants and the need to support remote regions, especially for women and local communities.
During the discussion, it became known that the Italian government has allocated funds to support small producers in mountainous areas. The project envisions the creation of a business incubator and accelerator that will provide grants and technical resources for farmers, agricultural cooperatives, and artisans. The partnership between local artisans and renowned designers is also part of this initiative.
The FAO representative in Kyrgyzstan, Oleg Guchgeldiev, noted that this project will open new economic opportunities and serve as a foundation for sustainable business in the country's mountain communities. The prospects for the Kyrgyz Republic in further participation in similar initiatives were discussed, as well as ways to attract investments from international financial institutions to support sustainable development in mountainous regions.
