In Naryn, the first high-tech mountain hospital in the country will be created, where cardiovascular diseases will be treated

In Kyrgyzstan, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the National Center for Cardiology and Therapy named after Academician M. Mirrakhimov, the Naryn Regional Hospital, and the Aga Khan Foundation branch. This document envisions the establishment of the first high-tech mountain hospital in the country, specializing in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases within the framework of the cardiovascular cluster model (CATLAB).

According to the Ministry of Health, this project represents a significant step towards providing quality cardiological care for residents of remote and mountainous areas, which will help avoid trips to Bishkek for medical services. The implementation of modern digital technologies and innovative solutions, supported by the Aga Khan Development Organization (AKDN), aims to improve the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
The director of the Center, Professor Talant Sooronbaev, emphasized that the new hospital will be a unique institution providing specialized care in hard-to-reach places.
As part of the agreement, the Aga Khan Foundation will provide modern equipment, including an angiographic complex, an ECHO-Cardiogram machine, and telemedicine devices, allowing doctors to conduct examinations and consultations remotely. This is especially important for mountainous regions with limited transportation access, where timely medical assistance is critically needed. Additionally, the hospital will launch the "Acute Myocardial Infarction 24/7" program, ensuring round-the-clock emergency treatment and free stenting for patients with severe conditions, which, in turn, will help significantly reduce mortality rates from cardiovascular diseases.
According to statistics, diseases of the circulatory system remain one of the leading causes of mortality in Kyrgyzstan, accounting for about 50% of all cases. In the Naryn region, where access to cardiologists is limited, the application of such technologies will help identify risks at early stages and save lives.
Thus, the cooperation between the National Center for Cardiology and Therapy and the Aga Khan Foundation is aimed at strengthening the healthcare system in mountainous regions, ensuring equal access to quality medical services for all residents.
