As part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the National Library of the Kyrgyz Republic, the XVI General Assembly of the Non-Profit Partnership "Library Assembly of Eurasia" (NPP LAE) and a meeting of the heads of national libraries of Turkic-speaking countries were held.
The meeting of the NPP LAE and the directors of Turkic-speaking countries was attended by: President of the Library Assembly of Eurasia, Director of the Russian State Library (RSL) - Vysly A.I, General Director of LAE - Raikova G.A., Executive Director of LAE - Neryueva M.V., General Director of the Russian National Library - Likhomanov A.V., General Director of the National Library of Belarus - Motulsky R.S., Director of the Azerbaijan National Library - Takhirov Kerim Magomed oglu, General Director of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Askar Alibek, Director of the Department of Management and Services of the National Library of Turkey - Galip Yildirim, Deputy General Director of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Zhandosov A.K., and heads of departments: President of the B.N. Yeltsin Presidential Library - Chentsov Alexander Sergeevich, Sakaev A.A., Khabibullina A.R.; National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Askarbekova N.M., Mambaev A.B., Bekpaeva B.S.; National Library of Turkey - Teoman Akay.
At the XVI General Assembly of LAE, the following issues were discussed:
- Activities of the NPP "LAE" for 2013-2014;
- Regulations on the scientific and practical journal "Herald of the Library Assembly of Eurasia";
- Prospective thematic publication plan for the "Herald of LAE" for 2015;
- Changes to the model library code;
- Project "Electronic Library of the Library Assembly of Eurasia";
- Determining the place and time for the XVII General Assembly of the NPP LAE.
The participants of the meeting exchanged views on a wide range of issues. It was noted that the main task is to develop mutually agreed views among participants on common goals, priorities, and prospects in the preservation and development of a common library and information space.
At the meeting of the heads of national libraries of Turkic-speaking countries (Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan), the following issues were discussed:
- Development of a consolidated catalog of resources based on UNICODE standards of the Latin alphabet;
- Creation of an organizational structure, appointment of members from participating countries, and determination of priorities for these countries;
- Exchange of publications on the application of information technologies;
- Creation of bilateral and multilateral consortia for a common database based on the use of electronic libraries - formation of an electronic and information fund for Turkic studies (bibliographic and full-text);
- Compilation of a bibliography - publications about historical figures in Turkic-speaking countries;
- Book exchange between national libraries on Turkic themes;
- Information work to promote Turkic literature.
During the discussion, great attention was paid to the creation of joint projects related to the application of information technologies, as well as the expansion of international book exchange. Participants noted that in recent years, cooperation among the national libraries of Turkic-speaking countries has been successfully developing, and the cultural community of Turkic-speaking peoples is the basis for creative interconnection.
