Report by Kolpakovsky on the Arrival of Representatives of the Rebel Kokand Kyrgyz to the Russian Authorities
REPORT OF THE ACTING TURKESTAN GENERAL-GOVERNOR
LIEUTENANT GENERAL G. A. KOLPAKOVSKY TO THE TURKESTAN GENERAL-GOVERNOR K. P. KAUFMAN ON THE ARRIVAL OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE REBELLIOUS KOKAND KYRGYZ TO THE RUSSIAN AUTHORITIES
November 12, 1873
The acting military governor of the Syrdarya region, Major General Eiler, informed me by telegram that deputies from the Kokand Kyrgyz, dissatisfied with Khudoyar Khan, had appeared before the district chief of Khojent and were asking him what position our Government would take in the event of their open rebellion, adding that they were in close relations with the Tokmak Kyrgyz through Shabdan Jantaev.
Major General Eiler, finding it inconvenient to negotiate with these deputies, ordered the negotiations to cease and undoubtedly to remove the deputies from Khojent. For my part, approving Major General Eiler's orders, I suggested to the acting military governor of the Semirechye region to verify the deputies' statement about their connections through Shabdan Jantaev with the Tokmak Kyrgyz and, if this proves to be true, to immediately terminate them, and if Shabdan Jantaev has any correspondence with the deputies, to seize it and present it to me.
In reporting the above to Your Excellency, I add that upon receiving more detailed information clarifying the matter, I will have the honor to report further.
