Military Senior Officer of the Militia Shabdan Djantaev, aged 48 years, of the Muslim faith. He has distinctions: 5 first-class honorary robes and 1 second-class robe, two large gold medals on Stanislav and Annen ribbons, for wearing around the neck, a medal in memory of the conquest of the Kokand Khanate, a badge of the Red Cross Society, a badge of the Military Order of 4th class, a medal in memory of the sacred coronation of HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY ALEXANDER III, and a pair of gold watches with a matching chain awarded by the Highest Authority. He does not receive a salary.

From the manaps (the title corresponds to sultan or princely) of the wild stone horde (Karakirghiz) of the Sarybagish clan and volost, Tokmak district of the Semirechensk region.

He was not educated anywhere.

He was not in active service, but served as a militiaman in the following cases: In July 1868, during the introduction of Russian administration among the Naryn Karakirghiz, the leader of the discontented Osman, with a small band, unexpectedly attacked at night the Tokmak District Chief Major Zagrjazski, capturing his horsemen and translator. Upon learning of this, Shabdan Djantaev, who was not holding any position and was nearby, gathered his relatives, attacked Osman's band, defeated it (during which two of Shabdan's men were killed), and rescued the District Chief who had hidden in the forest. Osman's band was pursued to the Kashgar borders, where Osman hid, losing all his cattle and property. For this merit, Shabdan Djantaev was awarded by the Turkestan General Governor an honorary robe of the 2nd class and a large gold medal on the Stanislav ribbon... (The certificates are lost. The medal and robe were brought from Tashkent and issued by Major Zagrjazski).

In recognition of special merits, he was awarded by the Turkestan General Governor an honorary robe of the 1st class... (certificate No. 142).

In 1876, during the campaign against the Kokand Khanate, Shabdan Djantaev served as a horseman in the Semirechensk Cossack troops under the command of Ataman Baron Shtakelberg, dispatched by the Commander of the troops from Naryn to the Kokand Khanate. During this detachment's movement towards the city of Namangan, Shabdan Djantaev participated in actions against Kokand rebels led by Pulat Khan, near the cities of Batakara and Spiskena, distinguishing himself with particular bravery, for which he was awarded by the Commander of the troops with the badge of distinction of the Military Order of the 4th class (no copy of the order available) and a silver medal in memory of the conquest of the Kokand Khanate (certificate No. 9945)...

In 1877, he participated in the expedition undertaken to pacify the Alay Karakirghiz led by Abdulla-bek, with a detachment under the command of the Fergana Governor General Major General Skobeleva, participating with 40 horsemen at his own expense in the pursuit of Abdulla-bek to Tash-Kurgan and Karlytina. For these merits, he received from the Commander of the troops 2000 rubles and an honorary robe of the 1st class (the certificate is lost).

In the same year, he participated in pacifying the Alay Kirghiz under the command of Jantym Khan.

In 1878, Shabdan Djantaev was with his horsemen in a detachment stationed on the Chinese border at the river Atbash under the command of Military Senior Officer Grinwald, receiving for his merits a large gold medal on the Annen ribbon...

For his contributions to charity, he received the badge of the "Red Cross Society" (the certificate is lost)...

For special merits, he was awarded by the Turkestan General Governor an honorary robe of the 1st class (No. 147)...

In 1883, being sent as a deputy from the Kyrgyz population to the sacred coronation of THEIR MAJESTIES, he was awarded the rank of Military Senior Officer of the militia, gold watches with a matching chain, and an honorary robe of the 1st class..

He was [in] 1876 during the conquest of the Kokand Khanate. He participated in actions against Kokand rebels near the cities of Batakara and Spiskena. In 1877, he participated in the expedition undertaken to pacify the Alay Karakirghiz, led by Abdulla-bek.

In the same year, he participated in pacifying the Alay Kirghiz under the command of Jantym Khan.
