In Kyrgyzstan, a new project is starting aimed at planting fruit orchards along highways. The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry is responsible for implementing this initiative.

The main objectives of the project are to reduce soil erosion, develop green infrastructure, and strengthen road embankments.

It is planned to plant fruit trees on sections approximately 1 km long along the main roads in each region of the country. According to information from the regions, land plots have already been identified in some places, and planting work is expected to begin in 2026, taking into account the soil and climatic conditions for which certain varieties will be recommended.

"Foreign experience shows that well-organized fruit orchards along roads not only improve the environmental situation but also contribute to enhancing the country's food security through increased fruit production," commented the Ministry of Water Resources. The department's specialists are already working on a draft resolution for the cabinet of ministers to implement this initiative.
