The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry has announced ambitious plans for the development of the processing sector in Kyrgyzstan. According to the information from the ministry, by 2030, it is planned to increase the share of processed agricultural products to 25%.
To achieve this goal, the republic plans to create 385 new enterprises. They will include modern facilities for the storage and processing of various types of agricultural products, such as meat, milk, fish, vegetables, and fruits, as well as wool and leather.
The structure of the planned facilities will be as follows:
- 40 trade and logistics centers (TLC)
- 45 large processing enterprises
- 300 small and medium enterprises
The projects will cover all regions of the country, including remote areas and rural districts. The planning takes into account the specifics of agricultural products, which will ensure a sustainable raw material base for new productions.
The regional distribution of new facilities will be as follows:
- Jalal-Abad Region – 7 TLCs and 59 enterprises
- Osh Region – 5 TLCs and 53 enterprises
- Batken Region – 8 TLCs and 29 enterprises
- Talas Region – 4 TLCs and 21 enterprises
- Naryn Region – 2 TLCs and 31 enterprises
- Issyk-Kul Region – 6 TLCs and 66 enterprises
- Chui Region – 7 TLCs and 78 enterprises
- City of Bishkek – 5 enterprises
According to the ministry, the implementation of this program will significantly reduce losses of agricultural products, create thousands of jobs, and enhance the competitiveness of the country's agro-industrial complex.
