The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry is developing amendments to the Law "On the Regulation of Veterinary Medicinal Products in the Territory of the Kyrgyz Republic." The draft law is already available for discussion.

During the monitoring of the agro-industrial complex, cases of uncontrolled use of antibiotics in the production and processing of milk were recorded, which poses a serious threat to both product quality and consumer health. There have also been instances of adding antibiotics to milk to extend its shelf life.

According to the ministry, the presence of antibiotics in milk can lead to the following negative consequences:

In light of the above, the ministry proposes amendments stating that veterinary medicines dispensed by prescription in accordance with the instructions can only be sold for the purpose prescribed by a veterinarian.

The use of chemotherapeutic antibacterial veterinary drugs for preventive purposes, as well as for stimulating the productivity of agricultural animals, is prohibited.
