The Republican Center for Health Strengthening and Mass Communications once again emphasized to citizens that taking antibiotics without a doctor's prescription is unacceptable.
Experts stressed that unjustified use of antibiotics can significantly worsen health. Consequences include weakened immune system, disruptions in liver and kidney function, serious allergic reactions, as well as negative effects on the nervous system.
Specialists remind that antibiotics do not work on viral infections, such as ARVI and influenza. These medications should only be used for the prevention and treatment of bacterial infections, and their prescription can only be made by a qualified physician.
The center urged people to avoid self-medication and to consult medical professionals when symptoms of illness appear.
