- In Kyrgyzstan, immunization against influenza is currently being carried out, with 63,734 doses of the "Grippol+" vaccine purchased.
According to specialists, vaccination is considered one of the most effective methods of influenza prevention. The healthcare system has been using safe and effective vaccines for over six decades.
“The influenza vaccine protects healthy adults, even if the circulating viruses do not match those contained in the vaccine. For older adults, this vaccine may be less effective in preventing illness; however, it significantly alleviates the course of the disease and reduces the risk of complications and death,” the statement said.
According to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, annual vaccination should be carried out for the following groups after consulting a doctor:
- pregnant women at any stage,
- children aged 6 months to 5 years,
- people over 65 years old,
- individuals with chronic diseases,
- healthcare workers.
In addition to vaccination and antiviral treatment, public health protection measures include individual protective measures such as:
- regular hand washing and thorough drying;
- respiratory hygiene—covering the mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, followed by proper disposal of used tissues;
- timely self-isolation for those who feel unwell and have symptoms of influenza;
- avoiding close contact with sick individuals;
- avoiding touching the eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
