According to information announced on "Birinchi Radio," residents of Kyrgyzstan consume salt in an amount that exceeds the World Health Organization's recommended norm by 3.5 times. This was reported by Marina Duyshonkulova, a doctor at the Republican Center for Health Promotion.

She clarified that the maximum recommended dose of salt is 5 grams per day, which is approximately equivalent to one teaspoon.

According to data from the World Health Organization for 2018, Kyrgyzstan ranks first in Central Asia in terms of salt consumption levels. Instead of the norm of 5 grams, the residents of the country consume an average of 17.24 grams per day.

Marina Duyshonkulova also emphasized that excessive salt consumption can negatively affect the cardiovascular system, leading to increased blood pressure and raising the risks of heart attack and stroke.
