They Can Even Kill. A Doctor Discusses the Consequences of Drug Addiction
Sagymbaeva noted that the use of synthetic drugs and pharmaceutical preparations is associated with two main problems for the body: mental health and the development of both physical and psychological dependence.
“Addiction can significantly worsen the quality of life. Human existence becomes focused on obtaining a new dose. Mental disorders and short-term psychoses often develop in people who use these substances. In such a state, they may commit violent acts or offenses. Many believe that a one-time use of drugs will not lead to consequences, but there are known cases where even a single instance can trigger a mental disorder that manifests six months or a year later,” she emphasized.
In response to a question about how to protect children from drugs, Sagymbaeva highlighted the need to create a safe environment where they will not feel the desire to use them.
“It is important for a teenager to be involved in various activities, both physical and intellectual. Surroundings and family relationships play a key role. If there are psychological problems, it is necessary to consult specialists,” she added.
