In 2025, a record amount of synthetic drugs was seized in Kyrgyzstan — about 798 kilograms. This information was presented at a briefing by Kanybek Usenov, head of the prevention department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' drug control service.

Compared to the previous year, when only 34 kilograms were seized, the current figures indicate a significant increase.

“Synthetic drugs are becoming increasingly widespread around the world, and Kyrgyzstan is no exception. This year, we discovered five drug laboratories engaged in the production of synthetic substances: four in the Chui region and one in Osh. People are renting premises for the synthesis of new psychoactive substances, and we are actively combating this. Additionally, synthetic drugs are coming to us from neighboring countries such as Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as through international mail shipments from Europe and the USA. We have established cooperation with the Customs Service to thoroughly check all postal cargo entering the country, and drugs are being detected at the border,” Usenov noted.

He also added that in the first nine months of 2025, a total of 4 tons and 725 kilograms of various drugs and precursors were seized across the country.

“The drug situation overall remains stable. Both Afghan drugs and local ones, including hashish, marijuana, and synthetic substances, continue to be seized in the Kyrgyz market,” concluded Kanybek Usenov.
