In order to combat the smuggling of electronic cigarettes in Kyrgyzstan, law enforcement agencies carried out operational measures. During one such operation, which took place on October 24 in the rural area of A. Masaliev, a 20-year-old resident of the village of Kakyra, named J.A., was detained. He was looking for buyers for his prohibited goods. During a search, electronic vapes containing nicotine and nicotine pouches, which are classified as synthetic drugs, were found in his possession. These items were seized and now serve as physical evidence.
Currently, investigative actions are ongoing to assess the value of the seized goods and to determine the methods of their illegal importation into the country.
It is also worth noting that according to law No. 186, which will come into effect on July 1, 2025, a complete ban on the import, sale, and use of electronic cigarettes will be introduced in Kyrgyzstan.
