The Mandatory Health Insurance Fund reminds that if an insured citizen goes to a hospital without a referral from their family doctor, they will have to pay for all provided medical services according to the established price list.

This information applies to various medical services, including consultations, doctor visits, tests, examinations, and procedures that are not related to emergency care.

In cases where a patient is admitted to the hospital via emergency medical services and requires immediate intervention, hospitalization occurs without prior referral. In such situations, medical assistance is provided free of charge, including medications and medical devices, as long as the patient is in a condition that threatens their life and health.

If a citizen does not have a referral, they can still consult their family doctor for necessary examinations without payment. This includes visits, consultations, laboratory tests (up to 52 types) as indicated, and ECGs. Discounts of 50% are also provided for ultrasound and X-ray services, as well as day hospital services. The doctor can issue a referral for hospitalization if there are appropriate indications.
