The Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (MHIF) reminds citizens of the rules for obtaining referrals for hospitalization.
Recently, complaints have been received on the hotline 113 from citizens regarding medical workers not issuing referrals in a remote format.
The ministry emphasized that this contradicts the established norms for providing medical assistance. According to the current rules:
- Every doctor is required to conduct a personal examination of the patient, even if a referral for hospitalization is needed.
- During the examination, the doctor may prescribe necessary basic tests and studies, which the patient has the right to undergo free of charge.
- To undergo tests, the patient must be registered with the Family Medicine Center (FMC) and have a valid mandatory health insurance policy.
Without a personal examination and justification, hospitalization cannot be assigned, and medical institutions have the right to refuse admission.
The MHIF urges all citizens to follow the established procedures, to be registered with the FMC, and to have a health insurance policy, as well as to contact the hotline 113 for clarifications or in case of violations.
