According to her, the method of 24-hour ECG monitoring, also known as Holter ECG (named after the developer of the method), allows for continuous tracking of the heart's electrical activity over a 24-hour period.
The main objectives of this study are:
- identifying arrhythmias;
- detecting transient or hidden changes;
- assessing the effectiveness of ongoing treatment;
- monitoring heart function in the patient's normal life conditions.
The process of conducting the study includes the following steps:
- the doctor attaches special electrodes to the patient's chest;
- these electrodes are connected to a small recording device — a recorder;
- for 24 hours, the device records heart activity;
- the patient continues to lead a normal lifestyle during this time;
- upon completion of the study, the doctor analyzes the obtained data using specialized software, based on which a medical conclusion is made.
At present, the department has three devices for ECG monitoring and three devices designed for 24-hour blood pressure monitoring. All patients receiving treatment in this department can undergo these studies free of charge.
