Chinese specialists, while performing surgeries, restored the vision of numerous patients, allowing them to see the surrounding world anew. The cost of one surgery, including lens implantation and medications, exceeds 100,000 soms; however, all financial expenses were covered by the Chinese side.
In addition, as part of humanitarian cooperation, the "Chinese Health - Express" Foundation donated an optical coherence tomography (OCT) device to the Osh hospital, valued at 17 million soms.
The cooperation between the Osh Regional United Hospital and Chinese doctors has been ongoing for three years:
- in 2023, 338 surgeries were performed,
- in 2024, 237 surgeries,
- in 2025, 317 surgeries.
In appreciation, the hospital management and the staff of the eye microsurgery department presented Chinese doctors with letters of gratitude and commemorative gifts. A new three-year agreement for further cooperation was also signed.
This project serves as a vivid example of strengthening medical partnership between Kyrgyzstan and China, aimed at developing accessible and quality ophthalmological care for the population.
