From October 11 to 22, a team of Chinese ophthalmologists worked at the Osh Interregional Clinical Hospital as part of the "Express Health - Bright Journey" initiative.
According to the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, over two weeks, Chinese specialists successfully performed 317 free surgeries, allowing patients to restore their vision and see the surrounding world again.
Each surgery, including lens implantation and medications, costs over 100,000 soms; however, all expenses were fully covered by the Chinese side. The main goal of the project is to provide high-quality ophthalmological care to residents of the southern regions of Kyrgyzstan, especially those suffering from cataracts and glaucoma.
An important aspect of humanitarian cooperation was the transfer of an optical coherence tomography (OCT) device to the Osh hospital by the "Chinese Health - Express" Fund, valued at 17 million soms.
Cooperation between the Osh Regional Hospital and Chinese doctors has been ongoing for the third consecutive year, and its results are impressive:
- In 2023, 338 surgeries were performed,
- In 2024, 237 surgeries were performed,
- In 2025, 317 surgeries were performed.
