Recent information indicates that 84 people, including four educators, were affected by a mass food poisoning incident at the private school "Seitek STEM," located at 1/1 Chingiz Aitmatov Avenue in Bishkek. This was reported by the press service of the capital's Center for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance.

According to medical data, 79 of the affected individuals sought assistance at the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital, where they underwent tests for toxins. Five others also received help at private medical institutions.

The chief physician of the RCID reported that 13 of the affected individuals were hospitalized, while the others received outpatient treatment.

The preliminary diagnosis has been established as "bacterial poisoning of unspecified etiology." According to the results of the sanitary investigation, the poisoning occurred due to the consumption of shawarma, which was served for lunch on October 31 in the school cafeteria and prepared directly at the educational institution. The first symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, weakness) appeared in students just a few hours after eating.

"Immediately after receiving information about the incident, specialists from the center conducted an inspection of the school cafeteria and food preparation area. Samples of food, daily samples, and swabs from equipment were collected, and staff involved in food preparation were examined. Compliance with sanitary standards and conditions for food storage was checked," the CGSEN noted.

After analyzing the situation, the school administration was issued directives to rectify the identified violations and conduct a complete disinfection. Administrative protocols for violations were drawn up against the school principal, and two fines were imposed — 5,000 and 23,000 soms, totaling 28,000 soms.

Currently, the CGSEN continues to conduct an epidemiological investigation. After receiving the results of laboratory analyses, a final conclusion will be made, and necessary measures will be taken in accordance with current legislation.

The center reminds of the importance of strict adherence to sanitary norms in organizing food services and personal hygiene during food preparation.
