In Niger, more than 500,000 people have been affected by floods

This year, Niger has faced severe flooding, resulting in the deaths of over 120 people and affecting more than 550,000, according to TASS. This information was provided by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

OCHA emphasized that the current floods pose a serious threat, having destroyed nearly 55,000 homes and flooded over 10,000 acres of land designated for agriculture.

According to the report, the areas most affected are Dosso, Tillaberi, and Maradi, where the floods impacted around 550,000 people.

Additionally, the UN and its humanitarian partners are actively assisting the Nigerien government in providing aid to those affected; however, resources for this work remain extremely limited.

OCHA also noted that the flood response plan for Niger this year is only 20% funded, with $111 million received out of the required $603 million.
