In Russia, starting from November 1, citizens will be able to register no more than 20 SIM cards for one individual. This was reported by the TASS news agency.
This limitation is part of a new federal law that will come into effect next week and is aimed at protecting the population from crimes related to mobile communications.
If the established limit is exceeded, mobile operators will not be able to continue providing services. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, which is responsible for combating the illegal use of information and communication technologies, stated that there are various methods to check the number of SIM cards registered to a citizen.
“The simplest and most convenient method is to use the 'Gosuslugi' portal. You need to log into your account, go to the 'SIM cards' section, and review the list of all numbers registered in your name. If you find unfamiliar numbers, you can refuse them either through 'Gosuslugi' or at a communication salon. If your main number is missing from the list, it is likely that it was registered under an old passport. In that case, you should contact the operator to update your information,” the agency explained.
