The agency noted that this portal was created to simplify the application process, increase transparency, and minimize human factors in queue formation. Electronic submission of applications helps to avoid the need to visit various organizations and collect a large number of documents.

Citizens of Uzbekistan can register for a pilgrimage trip for Hajj or Umrah in two ways: through the "Unified Portal for Hajj and Umrah" itself or through the Unified Portal of Interactive State Services (UPIGS).

Previously, the Committee warned that to obtain pilgrimage visas in Saudi Arabia, a medical examination is required, and a corresponding certificate can only be issued on the Nusuk platform.

The authorities of Saudi Arabia have compiled a list of diseases that will prevent citizens from going on Hajj. These diseases include liver and heart failure, chronic lung diseases, serious mental and neurological disorders, as well as senile dementia.

The Nusuk platform, launched a few years ago, provides comprehensive information about the pilgrimage process to Mecca and Medina, including visa acquisition and rules for staying in Saudi Arabia. Starting from the Hajj season of 2026, the use of the corresponding application will become mandatory; otherwise, pilgrims will not be allowed to access the holy sites. This decision aims to combat illegal pilgrimages and ensure the safety of believers.

In most Central Asian countries, applications for Hajj or Umrah can only be submitted in person at institutions with the necessary documents. An exception is Kazakhstan, where applications are accepted only through licensed tour operators.

In 2023, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, announced the creation of a unique online system for forming a transparent queue of pilgrims, which is expected to help combat fraud and bribery.

In April of this year, a decree was issued to develop the "Unified Portal for Hajj and Umrah" and the accompanying mobile application.

Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam, which takes place from the 8th to the 12th day of the Muslim month of Dhul-Hijjah.

Umrah, considered the minor pilgrimage, can be performed at any time, but during the holy month of Ramadan, it is equivalent to the major Hajj.
