The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan has made an official statement urging the population to strictly adhere to fire safety rules.

The agency expressed concern about the increasing number of fires and responded to public inquiries regarding the lack of inspections of private homes. “According to the Law on Fire Safety, adopted on December 13, 2022, representatives of the state authority do not have the authority to conduct inspections in the private sector,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations added.

According to statistics, since the beginning of 2025, there have been 2,748 fires in the republic, which is 25% more compared to the same period last year. As a result of these incidents, 40 people have died, including 12 children.

With the onset of colder weather, the use of electric heaters and stoves is increasing, which also raises the risk of fires.
In response to the situation, the Ministry of Emergency Situations is conducting educational activities in cities and regions, as well as distributing leaflets on precautionary measures.

Experts recommend that citizens regularly check the condition of electrical wiring and heating devices, use only certified appliances, avoid overloading electrical networks, not leave heaters unattended, and keep flammable materials away from heat sources. Additionally, it is advisable to have conversations with children about fire safety rules.

One of the main causes of fires remains violations of the rules for operating electrical devices.

In case of an emergency, citizens are strongly advised to contact the numbers 101 or 112, which are the unified emergency service numbers.
