According to RIA Novosti, citing the Wall Street Journal, U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to grant a pardon to Changpeng Zhao, the founder of the largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance.
In April 2024, an American court sentenced Zhao to four months in prison for money laundering. The court found that he had neglected compliance obligations in pursuit of increased revenue and growth of his platform, which facilitated the free trading of criminals on the exchange. Zhao was released at the end of September.
