Meanwhile, other participants in the case remained under their previous sentences. A total of 20 people are accused in this case.
- Almazbek Atambayev, the former president of the Kyrgyz Republic, received 11 years and 3 months of imprisonment with confiscation of property and deprivation of state awards.
- Farid Niyazov, the former head of the president's administration, and ex-deputy Ravshan Djeenbekov were sentenced to 7 years and 8 months of imprisonment and were immediately taken into custody in the courtroom.
- Irina Karamushkina, a member of the Social Democratic Party, will now serve 8 years in prison.
- Farhad Baabiev, also a member of the Social Democratic Party, received 5 years and 6 months of imprisonment and was arrested in the courtroom.
- Kanat Sagymbaev, the former bodyguard of Atambayev, was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months but was released on probation for 5 years.
- Ex-deputy Meerbek Miskembaev received 5 years of probationary supervision.
- Atambayev supporter Kanat Osmonaliev was sentenced to 7 years and 8 months in a penal colony but was also released on probation for 5 years.
- Rysbek Karypbek uulu, another supporter of Atambayev, was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months of imprisonment, with a condition of probationary supervision for 5 years.
- Asel Koduranova, an ex-deputy, received 3 years of probationary supervision.
- Kunduz Zholdubaeva, the official representative of the SDPK, was sentenced to 5 years of probationary supervision.
- Amangeldy Kakebaev, a supporter of the former president, also received 3 years of probationary supervision.
- Isabek Abdygaziev, the former deputy governor of the Naryn region, was released from punishment due to the expiration of the statute of limitations on the case.
- Atambayev supporters Nooruz Kaparbek uulu and Marat Shamenov received 3 years of probationary supervision each.
- Askarbek Shadiev, the former minister of energy, was sentenced to 15 years and 6 months in a general regime colony with confiscation of property and a ban on holding government positions for 3 years after release.
The decision was made by the criminal case panel chaired by Leila Baidaeva, with the participation of judges Urmat Mamatkerimov and Nurlan Esenbaev.
It should be noted that Leila Baidaeva previously worked as a lawyer for Rayimbek Matraimov.
The case regarding the events in Koi-Tash has been under consideration in court since 2022. It includes episodes related to the Bishkek CHPP, the Dastan plant, and land plots. Among the accused are also mentioned former Minister of Internal Affairs Abdildy Suranchiev and ex-Minister of Energy Askarbek Shadiev. In total, there are 20 defendants in the case, 12 of whom are connected to the events in Koi-Tash.
February 2023 marked the moment when Almazbek Atambayev received court permission for treatment and left for Spain, from which he has not returned to Kyrgyzstan.
On August 7, 2019, special forces of the GKNB attempted to storm Atambayev's residence in Koi-Tash. The next day, a joint operation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the GKNB was conducted to detain the former president. The security forces managed to extract him from the residence, but supporters began throwing stones and setting tires on fire. As a result of two days of clashes, 136 people were injured, and one special forces officer died from gunshot wounds.
Several criminal cases were initiated against the former president, including cases related to the riots in Koi-Tash on August 7-8, 2019, corruption, and money laundering. He was also accused of illegally issuing passports to citizens of Turkey and organizing mass riots in October 2020, but was acquitted.
