A meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO in a narrow format was held.

Today, September 12, 2014, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Almazbek Atambayev, participated in a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in a narrow format, taking place in the city of Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the heads of state discussed the agenda of the meeting, the list of documents prepared for signing, as well as the location of the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO.
Speaking at the meeting, President Almazbek Atambayev noted that the rise of religious extremism, the threat of terrorist groups infiltrating Central Asian countries, and the risk of increased drug trafficking in the region remain the main problems that the states of the region need to pay close attention to. "We believe that only a high level of interaction and the organization of targeted and comprehensive work among the SCO participants can create an effective barrier against such phenomena," said Almazbek Atambayev during his speech.
