A meeting was held at the National Academy of Sciences with deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, with the leader of the SDPK Ch. Tursunbekov and the Chairman of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic on Education, Science, Culture, and Sports K. Osmonaliev.
The President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic A. Erkebayev emphasized in his speech that in recent years, representatives of the authorities have repeatedly spoken about the abolition of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic or about transitioning to new forms of management, granting it the status of a public organization. "People who are completely distant from science propose recommendations for reforming science, which has caused confusion and outrage in the academic scientific community, which we have repeatedly discussed and written about," he said. Furthermore, the president of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic A. Erkebayev informed the deputies about the scientific achievements of the Academy's institutes, about the reforms being carried out to optimize and enhance the effectiveness of academic science.
Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Ch. Tursunbekov noted that his visit to the Academy left a positive impression on him; the role of science in the socio-economic development of the country is undeniable, and therefore we expect new constructive ideas and proposals from you, as well as a concrete Program for the development of domestic science. "The recent article on the information site about the reform in the field of science by the Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic A.A. Aldashev indicates that you have a certain vision regarding the prospects for the development of academic science," he emphasized. The Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic A. Borubaev informed the deputies that the data from scientometric analysis, in particular, data from Thomson Reuters and Scopus, indicate that during this time, only 914 articles have been published in international journals, the majority of which are attributed to scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In turn, K. Osmonaliev noted that he has repeatedly raised these issues in parliament, discussing them at a Committee meeting, where members of the hypothetically created working group, who prepared recommendations for reforming science, were unable to clearly answer the questions posed to them. "I am against the abolition of the Academy of Sciences, and I have stated my firm position on this issue more than once," the parliamentarian added.
