In the 2019-2020 theater season, the second monodrama of the famous poetess Irina Astakhova "Without Makeup" will be released, featuring works from her new eponymous collection, as well as beloved poems from various years.

Ah Astakhova is one of the most widely read contemporary Russian authors and one of the few artists who revisits the conventional performance of her own poetry, drawing full houses across Russia and abroad. She remains the only contemporary poetess who has read her poems accompanied by an orchestra. Irina has held large concerts in Paris, Berlin, Riga, Prague, Tallinn, Milan, Barcelona, and Tbilisi, and she also directed the monodrama herself, which toured over 80 cities in Russia and some cities abroad last year. The new production will also feature music by the talented composer Misha Mishchenko, while the theatrical action is once again overseen by playwright Andrey Goncharov.

The new performance by Ah Astakhova goes beyond the usual format of poetry presentation "person and microphone." The audience will literally find themselves inside the text, the meaning, the essence of Astakhova's lyrics. By reading her delicate and touching works, the author wants the audience to experience the same places and moments that inspired her to create her texts. The production "Without Makeup" is an open conversation on the themes of love, loneliness, intimacy, and self-acceptance.

A true innovator in poetry and a laureate of several prestigious awards, Irina Astakhova will be the first and currently the only contemporary poetess to perform in her own theatrical production not only as an author but also as an actress.
