On October 9, the day of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (1874), the postal community will once again celebrate World Post Day. This year, the Universal Postal Union also marks its 140th anniversary since its founding, which is a testament to the important role of the organization in facilitating the exchange of documents and goods through a global postal network that remains the largest physical delivery network on the planet.
The Universal Postal Union has enabled postal services to prepare a platform for market and commercial activities on a global scale.
The global postal network has every chance of success in expanding the digital space not only for individuals and businesses but also for governments, development agencies, and other participants seeking to address the numerous challenges facing our world.
With the growth of cross-border e-commerce, new opportunities are emerging. Electronic purchases are increasingly being delivered by postal services.

In memory of the historical date of October 9, 1874, the day of the creation of the Universal Postal Union, the postal community worldwide annually holds the "International Letter Writing Week."
This year, the "International Letter Writing Week" will be held from October 6 to October 12, 2014. As part of the "International Letter Writing Week," branches of the State Enterprise "Kyrgyz Post" will organize lectures and presentations with information about the role of the post and the activities of SE "Kyrgyz Post" by visiting schools, organizations, and enterprises. There will also be sales of envelopes, postcards, newspapers, and magazines, acceptance of postal items in schools and public places, and an "Open House Day" for the public to visit post offices.
