Elon Musk, the renowned American businessman, announced plans for Tesla to create an army of one million humanoid robots called Optimus. According to Wired, mass production of these devices could begin by the end of 2026.
During a meeting with Tesla investors, Musk expressed his concerns about control over voting within the company. He wondered if, after creating such a massive army of robots, he would be able to maintain influence over its operation. “Not to control, but to have significant influence… I worry about creating this army without having substantial influence,” the publication quotes the businessman.
Musk also stated on Wednesday that a "production prototype" of Optimus will be ready by February or March 2026. According to him, full-scale production of the robots will begin at the end of next year, with the goal of releasing one million units.
At the end of May, the entrepreneur showcased a video in which Optimus performs various household tasks: taking out the trash, sweeping, vacuuming, cooking, and drawing the curtains. He described the project as "the most ambitious product ever created." Additionally, Musk demonstrated how the robot is capable of navigating complex surfaces using neural networks, dancing, and even performing kung fu moves.
