The city authorities do not plan to remove scooters from the streets of Bishkek but intend to establish clear rules for their safe use, reports economist.kg.
According to the mayor, it is necessary to create conditions that will allow scooter riders to move safely and not interfere with either pedestrians or drivers.
He also emphasized that scooters play a significant role in relieving road congestion, as they are a convenient means of individual mobility, allowing people to move from one place to another without the need for cars.
In his presentation, Alexey Zhuravlev proposed a number of initiatives, including separating the bike lane on Toktogul Street, creating bike crossings on main streets, and extending the bike lane at Ala-Too Square, as well as organizing traffic directions on bike lanes to reduce conflicts between cyclists and pedestrians.
