Command-staff exercises at the Bishkek CHPP were held as part of the country's civil defense preparation.

During the second day of the exercises, an ammonia leak was simulated in the chemical workshop. Participants were required to demonstrate their skills in responding to emergencies related to the release of hazardous chemicals.

During the practical training, the station staff demonstrated the action algorithm upon detecting a leak:

•prompt notification of civil defense services;

•evacuation of employees from the potentially dangerous area;

•localization and elimination of the consequences of the simulated accident;

•provision of first aid to the injured.

According to the city administration, such exercises help check the readiness of personnel and emergency response services for actions in crisis situations, which increases the level of safety at this important facility in the capital.

According to the exercise scenario, a fire occurred in the fuel oil facility of the CHPP as a result of a 6-magnitude earthquake.

Participants also practiced actions for localizing and extinguishing the fire, evacuating workers, and providing first aid to the injured.

The exercises involved CHPP staff, forces and resources of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, civil defense services, and city services.

Practicing such scenarios allows for improving personnel readiness for actions in emergency situations and enhancing the interaction of all involved structures.
