Mayor of Bishkek: "Parking a car in the center of Bishkek will cost drivers a pretty penny"

“The price for parking will be such that Bishkek drivers will understand that it is cheaper to get to the center by public transport or taxi, rather than leaving their car there.” This was stated by the mayor of Bishkek, Kubanychbek Kulmatov.
– “We have now legalized everything. We have created three rings around the capital and are developing the areas where we would like to implement the practice of collecting fees. But keep in mind: this is not to replenish the budget's revenue part, but a measure to regulate traffic. The price will be such that it will not be profitable to park cars. A person will understand that it is cheaper to get to the center by public transport or taxi, rather than parking their car. I don’t know what the price will be yet, but it will definitely be hourly. This practice is not something we invented,” the mayor of the Kyrgyz capital told IA “24.kg.”
He also noted that the city administration is currently considering excluding the participation of the administration itself in these projects, and that private individuals would be responsible for parking, taking on the responsibility for improving and maintaining the area. According to the mayor, the first ring is currently being prepared for the competition.
