Festive events will take place in Bishkek in honor of Victory Day


In anticipation of the holiday, 20 banners will be placed on the central streets of the capital in honor of Victory Day – May 9, reports the press service of the Bishkek mayor's office.

The main festive event will take place on May 9 at 10:00 on Victory Square and will consist of three blocks: a mourning rally with the laying of a wreath at the Eternal Flame, a march of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, and a traditional soldier's porridge feast for 2,000 people organized in conjunction with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, along with a concert program. The climax of the celebration will be an evening fireworks display that will light up the sky over the capital at 22:00.

On the same day at 9:00, the "Immortal Regiment" action will take place. Participants of the procession will move from the Southern Highway along Baytik Baatyr Street to Victory Square.

Events dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of the Great Victory will also take place in all four districts of the capital.

In the Oktyabrsky district, on May 7 at 9:00, a solemn event titled "There is a memory that will not be forgotten! There is glory that will never end" will be held in Victory Park named after Dair Asanov at the Monument of Military Glory.

In the Leninsky district, on May 9 from 8:00, a mourning rally and wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the monument to fallen soldiers on the Heroes' Alley along the Young Guard Boulevard in memory of the deceased.

In all schools of the Sverdlovsky district, class hours, open lessons, drawing exhibitions, and meetings with veterans dedicated to the 71st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 will be held on the common theme: "Patriotism and Internationalism".

The Department of Social Development of the city municipality will hold a military-patriotic performance titled "Salute, Victory!" at 14:00 on May 9 in the auditorium of the Children's Musical Theater "Taberik," inviting veterans.

Additionally, all World War II veterans will receive extra one-time financial assistance from local budget funds through post offices amounting to 11.4 million soms. This includes one-time financial assistance payments from the mayor of Bishkek of 10,000 soms to participants, disabled veterans, Leningrad blockade survivors, and minor prisoners of concentration camps, and 5,000 soms to home front workers, widows of participants, disabled veterans, and families of fallen soldiers in World War II, for which 8.6 million soms are allocated.
