In Bishkek, a number of public figures were awarded certificates and medals "70 Years of Victory in WWII" on behalf of the President of Russia.
On August 21 in Bishkek, at the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) with the participation of the Russian Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Andrey Krutko and leaders of Kyrgyz organizations of war and labor veterans and Russian compatriots, the Day of the Russian Flag was celebrated.
Participants of the event took photos near a giant flag measuring 6 by 8 meters. Then, the ambassador reminded those present in his speech that on August 22, 1991, the three-colored Russian tricolor was officially raised over the "White House" in Moscow for the first time, replacing the red banner of the Soviet flag as the state symbol.
After that, the Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Andrey Krutko presented certificates and commemorative medals "70 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War" on behalf of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to Kyrgyz veterans and Russian compatriots who actively work on patriotic education of youth and preserve the historical memory of Victory.
The medals and certificates were awarded to:
Taras Tokombaev - Chairman of the Public Association "Republican Council of Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, Labor, Armed Forces, and Law Enforcement Agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic";
Svetlana Lapteva - Founder and Coordinator of the search movement of Kyrgyzstan "Our Victory – Bizdin Zhenish", Special Correspondent of "Vecherniy Bishkek";
Ilya Tolsky - Chairman of the Public Organization "City Military-Patriotic Association Rodina";
Anna Kutanova - Chairwoman of the Public Organization "Kyrgyz Society of Leningrad Blockade Survivors";
Stalbek Asakeev – Chairman of the Public Organization "Veterans of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic".
"We would like to ask for help from the ambassador, as the generals who worked in the border service in the city of Przhevalsk need assistance. We have also published an almanac about our history and service," said Stalbek Asakeev.
The presentation of certificates took place as part of the celebration of the Day of the Russian Flag.
