A WWII Participant from Talas Awarded the Order of Glory III Class

A veteran of the Great Patriotic War from Talas was awarded the Order of Glory III degree
In the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Bishkek, a solemn ceremony was held to present the Order of Glory III degree to the veteran of the Great Patriotic War, a Kyrgyz from Talas, Anvar Kuramaev. Participants of the Great Patriotic War, their relatives, and representatives of public veteran organizations were invited to the event. The ninety-year-old front-line veteran received the award from the hands of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kyrgyz Republic, Andrey Krutko.

- "In the year of the 70th anniversary of the great victory over fascism, our veterans are surrounded by special care and support. This year alone, more than 40 events dedicated to this memorable date were organized through the Embassy of Russia in Kyrgyzstan and the representation of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Kyrgyz Republic," noted Andrey Krutko, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic. - "Parades, marches, folk festivities, youth actions, and other festive events in various formats took place in all cities of Russia and Kyrgyzstan. Our countries issued special anniversary medals in honor of the 70th anniversary of Victory to award veterans of the Great Patriotic War. A large-scale complex of events was held under the auspices of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Embassy also took patronage over one of the veteran organizations - the Kyrgyz Society of Leningrad Blockade Survivors.

Anvar Kuramaevich Kuramaev was drafted and sent to the active army in 1943, fought as a machine gunner in the 116th Tank Brigade of the 2nd Belarusian Front, and participated in the battles for Berlin. For courage and valor shown in battles against the German-fascist invaders, by the order of the commander of the 8th mechanized corps dated April 5, 1945, No. 064/n, he was awarded the Order of Glory III degree. Being severely wounded during the capture of the Reichstag, he did not manage to receive the high award as he was sent to a rear hospital.
During the tea party, the defense attaché at the Russian Embassy, Captain 1st Rank Vyacheslav Khlyestov, reported that the award ceremony was preceded by painstaking work by many people to find the relevant documents and transfer the award to the Kyrgyz Republic.

- "The relatives of the veteran Anvar Kuramaev approached us with a request for assistance in restoring justice. We passed this information through our channels to the Ministry of Defense of Russia: there are several departments there that deal with such issues. We found the order, restored the award, and sent it to Kyrgyzstan through the Main Directorate for International Military Cooperation along with the relevant documents.

Khlyestov also presented gifts to veterans and representatives of public organizations - special sets designed as front-line rations.

It should be noted that the support for veterans from the Russian Embassy is ongoing. Every year, several hundred people - veterans of the Great Patriotic War and labor - receive financial assistance. Dozens of veterans are sent for sanatorium and resort treatment in Issyk-Ata and other health resorts in the country. The Embassy covers all expenses for veterans participating in ceremonial events on the occasion of Victory Day in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Veterans receive free subscriptions to periodicals, in particular, to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" and "AiF-Kyrgyzstan."
This year, in honor of the 70th anniversary of Victory, with the support of the Russian Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Bishkek and Kyrgyzstan Diocese, the "Memory Route" campaign was held - a trip to the settlements around Lake Issyk-Kul, where during the war, children's homes were located that took in evacuated children, including from besieged Leningrad.
