Next Saturday, March 21, Bishkek will celebrate Nowruz. The program for the celebration of the Spring Equinox was announced today, March 17, by the press service of the city administration.
At 11 a.m., a dish called sumolok will be served in Ala-Too Square. After that, guests of the celebration will be treated to a theatrical performance: "Жаңы заман – Жаңы жыл" ("New Era - New Year"), prepared by the municipal department of culture and tourism. This event will continue with a concert program featuring children's creative groups from the capital, "Taberik" and "Shattyk".
At 12:30 p.m., another festive concert will begin in Ala-Too Square for residents and guests of the capital, organized by the Bishkek city administration in collaboration with the radio station "Кыргызстан обондору" and the Assembly of the People of Kyrgyzstan. At the same time, a concert will take place at the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism's venue. There will also be an exhibition of national cuisine and applied arts.
From 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., sporting events prepared by the city sports committee will kick off at Old Square.
From 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., public festivities organized by the district administrations of the capital will take place in all parks and recreational areas.
For instance, residents of the residential areas of the Pervomaisky district will participate in a mini-football tournament, volleyball, and basketball competitions. Additionally, a concert will be organized for them. A concert program prepared by the district Center for Children's Creativity is also planned for visitors to Panfilov Park, where amusement rides will start operating.
In the Sverdlovsk district, public festivities, during which everyone will be able to enjoy national dishes, will take place in the Karagacheva Grove from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The October district administration will organize a festive event in the "Ata-Türk" park area. In the "Asanbay" microdistrict, sporting and mass events will take place at the "Kok-Jara" sports grounds and microdistrict No. 3, as well as at the Araibaev and Atatürk stadiums.
From 9:00 a.m., sports events in national types of games and a concert program will be organized at the "Manastyn Ayily" ethno-complex in the Lenin district. Additionally, there will be on-site sales of confectionery and national drinks at the ethno-complex.
