Karacholokov, who is currently serving as the acting head coach, replaced Uran Kalilov. The latter resigned after the World Championship in Croatia.
On October 22, the youth world championship in Greco-Roman wrestling concluded in Novi Sad (Serbia), where the Kyrgyzstan team was represented by ten athletes. Unfortunately, none of them managed to win medals.
“The Islamic Games will take place in early November. If countries like Iran, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan send their strongest athletes, it will be difficult for us to achieve a gold medal. Only a coach with a championship title can raise true champions. As far as I know, Uluk Karacholokov has never even won the championship of Kyrgyzstan,” noted Mahmudov.
Karacholokov began his career with the Kyrgyzstan national team in 2012, joining the team under the guidance of Kanat Begaliyev. In 2017, after Begaliyev's departure, he continued to work as a senior coach under the mentorship of Azat Erkimbaev.
“Before working with the national team, Uluk Karacholokov had never coached in a gym, and after his departure, he had no experience working in any gyms. His main experience is related to horse breeding. How can a person involved in horse breeding be the head coach of a wrestling team? He is a good person, a good husband, a caring father, and a loyal friend. I have no complaints about his personal qualities, but he does not deserve to be the head coach in Greco-Roman wrestling!” added Mahmudov.
