In their appeal, they expressed deep concern about the quality of food at the educational institution and demanded a thorough and transparent investigation of the incident.
“The case of poisoning children indicates serious violations of sanitary and organizational standards, which points to insufficient control over the quality of products and the operation of the cafeteria. We demand immediate action to ensure the safety and health of the students,” the letter states.
In particular, among the parents' demands:
- to consider the possibility of dismissing all staff from the school kitchen who violated sanitary requirements;
- to completely replace food suppliers, contracting only with verified companies that have the necessary certificates and permits;
- to create a permanent initiative group to monitor school nutrition, consisting of parents, representatives of the administration, local authorities, the Center for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, and the education department.
Additionally, parents insist that all costs for the treatment of the sick children be reimbursed by the school administration or other responsible organizations following the investigation. In the event of repeated poisoning cases, they demand the introduction of compensations and benefits for the affected.
The appeal also emphasizes the need to publish the results of the investigation and the measures taken in the media and on the school's social media pages. Parents also propose to install surveillance cameras in the cafeteria and dining hall.
It was previously reported that on October 31, a mass poisoning occurred at one of the private schools in Bishkek. A total of 58 people sought help at the infectious diseases hospital, including 54 children and 4 adults, all of whom had consumed shawarma in the school cafeteria. Among them, 7 children and 2 adults were hospitalized, while the remaining 49 received necessary medical assistance and were discharged for outpatient treatment.
